Elder Alvita Thompson

Elder Daniel Thompson, Sr. is the founder and visionary of DAT Ministry.  After serving as an ordained minister for over a decade, Elder Thompson established DAT Ministry to not only teach biblical principles, but also to demonstrate such disciplines by "discipling" members to train other believers to create a personal walk with Christ.  In essence, DAT Ministry is a ministerial tool to train teachers to teach, and disciples to disciple.

The son of an ordained minister, Elder Thompson’s early childhood prepared a strong foundation for his service in ministry. He witnessed his father faithfully serve God and his congregation; his father taught and lived the Word with sincere commitment and dedication. God provided a path for Elder Thompson to follow early on, and he built upon its foundation over the years.

Elder Thompson attended the University of Maryland where he majored in Business Administration and earned his A.S. Degree in Information Systems from American InterContinental University.  He joined the United States Marine Corp. and now holds the position of a 22 year decorated veteran Master Sergeant. He visited 37 countries preaching and teaching wherever God led him to do so.

Elder Thompson is no stranger to positions of leadership in any sector, and he is always ready to serve.

As a young man, Elder Thompson labored as Associate Pastor with Faith Ministries, Okinawa, Japan and the Director of the Nation of Jesus Men’s Ministry with St. John Baptist Church in San Diego, CA.  In addition, he served as the Associate Pastor of Kingdom Building Christian Tabernacle, in Fayetteville, Georgia.

Elder Daniel also served in positions of leadership at Believers Bible Church, College Park, GA and City of Refuge in Virginia.

Upon marrying his beautiful wife Alvita, Elder Thompson joined New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Lithonia, Georgia so he and his wife could worship together.  There, Elder Thompson was licensed and ordained as a Minister of the Gospel.

Elder Thompson's leadership responsibilities increased in positions ranging from Director of the New Birth Healing Ministry at the Laurel Bay Nursing Home, and Ministerial Leader of New Birth Discipleship Ministry, to the office of Elder where he was chosen to pilot the New Birth Discipleship Ministry that is now known as the “Power of One, House of Peace, Discipleship Groups”.

The first discipleship group graduation class consisted of seven students, and in 2016 a little over a decade later, 787 students have graduated from discipleship small groups since its inception.

Although the ministry experienced changes in pastoral leadership, the focus on training disciples never changed. Elder Thompson continues to serve in the Elders Alliance and “Power of One, House of Peace Discipleship Ministry.”

Elder Thompson is an esteemed teacher among teachers.   He conducts weekly Bible Study at Kings Bridge Senior Citizens Independent Living Center in Atlanta, GA and he also offers spiritual and financial support to the New Birth Liberia Educational Academy.

Elder Thompson holds the office of Chairman of the Board to the Men Facing Men Ministry of Atlanta.  As a businessman, he serves on the Board of Directors of AutoRize Company and he is the CEO and Owner of TompCo. LLC.
