Elder Alvita Thompson

      Elder Alvita Thompson has faithfully served in ministry holding the office of Elder, Minister, and Servant Leader for over 23 years in the five-fold ministry as Shepherd, Prophet, Teacher, Evangelist and Interpreter for the Deaf.

       From 1998-2010, Elder Alvita served in ministry at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, Lithonia GA.  There she served in numerous  ministries including as an intercessor with the Taking Authority Telephone Prayer Counselor Ministry; the Hispanic outreach ministry as a bilingual teacher and international intercessor; and served as an Evangelist with the Fishers of Men Evangelism Ministry. 

 

     Elder Alvita Thompson served as Team Leader at the Laurel Baye Nursing Home ministering to local nursing home residents with the Healing Ministry.  Elder Alvita often ministered to bereaved families before, during, and after home-going services with the Bereavement and Pastoral Care.

 

​       Elder Alvita is a seasoned Interpreter for the Deaf and has served for over forty years in that capacity. She is a proficient professional in the Deaf Community possessing a wealth of knowledge concerning deaf people, the language, and culture. 

       Elder Alvita received her training as an Educational Interpreter for the Deaf from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa and the University of Alabama at Birmingham.  God has used Elder Thompson to establish several deaf ministries throughout Atlanta, Georgia.  God has also used her in the area of healing and witnessing the opening of deaf ears. 

       Elder Alvita has utilized her talents to interpret for some of the world’s greatest leaders.  She had the privilege to interpret for Vice President Al Gore, Evangelist Billy Graham, Star Trek actor Avery Brooks, Bishop T.D. Jakes, Psalmist Richard Smallwood, songwriter Michael Bolton, Civil Rights Activist Coretta Scott King and South African Activist Archbishop Desmund Tutu, and many others.  She is a charter member of the National Christian Conference for the Deaf and Instructor in American Sign Language at Beulah Heights University.

       In the secular arena, Elder Alvita Thompson has also made her unique impression in the Marketplace while serving as an Administrator with the federal government, nonprofit agencies, corporate America, education, healthcare, as well as legal firms.  

She also faithfully served as the Executive Administrative Assistant to the President of Beulah Heights University in Atlanta, GA. 

 

       Elder Thompson has efficiently served many of the world’s top theologians, pastors, prophets, apostles, politicians, royal dignitaries, and business leaders.  Elder Alvita received her Associates Degree in Biblical Education from Beulah Heights University, and an A.S. Degree in Office Administration from Jefferson State Junior College. 

        Elder Alvita currently sits on the Board of Directors for Spirit Psalm Music and is a previous Board Member for the Atlanta Black Deaf Advocates.  She is the recipient of several awards including the Nobel Prize Winner for Public Service by American Institute for Public Service, the Community Action Award by ARAMARK Healthcare and is a member of the National Honor Society and the International Association of Administrative Professionals.

       Elder Alvita Thompson’s essence of service demonstrates the rare quality found in a Kingdom Woman of grace and excellence according to Proverbs 31.
